Alaric Smith is standing for District Council in Bampton & Clanfield. He has lived in Oxfordshire for over 40 years and was elected to West Oxfordshire District Council in 2022 after retiring as a Finance Director in the retail sector. Alaric now serves as the Council’s Executive Member for Finance, overseeing the budget and long-term financial planning. He has worked to restore stability at the Council, bring staff back into direct employment, renegotiate major contracts to reduce costs, and ensure taxpayers’ money is managed responsibly. Alaric previously helped lead a social enterprise supporting long-term unemployed people to gain skills refurbishing white goods for resale.
